Survival Kit’ is an annual art festival that has run since 2009, when it began as a reaction to the global economic crisis which forced the public to find new strategies of survival and encouraged artists to discover fresh means of existence. Previously the festival has represented works by such artists as Oliver Ressler (Austria), Harun Farocki (Germany), The Yes Men (USA), Gabriel Lester (Netherlands) and other internationally well-known authors.
Theme for 2013 was — Slow revolution: Art and Culture in the Institutional and Territorial Peripheries
Our solution: Revolution is the boiling point, when equilibrium has been destroyed and the status-quo needs to change. Our research into revolutions, revolutionaries and peripheries in society took us to a quote by a famous Anarchist – Emma Goldman:
If I can’t dance I don’t want to be part of your revolution.
We took this quote and turned into a visual system – linking different materials and exhibition floors, with our own designed Revolution Dance.
